Andante Transport Ticket

Andante is the name of Porto’s public transport ticket, regrouping all subway and bus moving in Porto City. In a competition to redesign Porto's public transport ticket, Andante, the goal was to represent the city and create a timeless design. Out of 300 participants, my proposal won first place with unanimous approval from the jury.

Idea: I incorporated three crucial elements into the final design. Firstly, I emphasized the predominant use of the color blue in our city, which is evident in landmarks such as Porto City Hall, the Andante branding itself, and the identity of F.C. Porto, among others. Secondly, the clear and recognizable public transport map, designed to suit the scale of our 'mansize' city. Lastly, my personal favorite element was inspired by Porto's enduring architectural charm. Many of our historic houses are adorned with handpainted tiles, often in blue, which serves as the city's primary architectural identity. These tiles are not only protected but also meticulously preserved by the government, adding to the city's unique beauty.
